Applications

With a 5/16″ diameter and 13/16″ length of cut, the YG1 86579TN solid carbide finishing end mill provides a balance of reach and rigidity suitable for precision finishing in steel. It features five flutes, a 45° helix, and TiN coating that together enhance surface finish and chip evacuation, reducing wear during light radial stock removal in low carbon steels like 1018 and A36. This single-end, center cutting tool allows for plunge cuts and versatile machining, with a standard length-to-diameter ratio that offers stability and reach for detailed contouring and slotting in steel as well as select non-ferrous and stainless steel materials. Avoid applying this end mill to heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA) because the TiN coating is not a good match, which could cause rapid tool failure. Its geometry and coating are optimized only for the specified workpiece groups to maintain performance and tool longevity.
