The 45° helix angle and 5-flute design improve surface finish and chip evacuation, reducing vibration during light radial stock removal. Its TiAlN Futura coating enhances heat resistance and wear life, supporting high-speed finishing in low carbon steels such as 1018 and A36. This tools geometry and coating align with recommended finishing combinations for low carbon steel, utilizing higher flute counts and variable pitch to achieve superior surface quality. The sharp edges lacking a corner radius require careful feed control to prevent chipping in interrupted cuts. Its center-cutting ability allows precise plunge cutting and slotting. Avoid using this end mill on non-ferrous materials because the TiAlN Futura coating is not well matched and will degrade quickly. It is less suited for heavy roughing or materials outside steel, stainless steel, HRSA, and cast iron, where other geometries and coatings perform better.
