Allow For Higher Turning Speeds With Less Heat
Achieve Precision Results Without The Need For Separate Lubrication
Reduce Thermal Friction when Turning with Phase II Precision Heavy Duty Live Centers. These heavy-duty live centers are well-adapted to hold a workpiece in a lathe or other machine tools, often between the headstock and tailstock. Since they revolve around the work itself, live centers are preferred for most precision operations. Phase-II offers a wide range of standard live center models to suit virtually all turning applications. The available models here are excellent for individual production of various workpieces through standard point and CNC point insert shafts. Travers offers these live centers from Phase-II in Morse Taper size 2, 3, 4, 5. The interchangeable inserts are standard points and CNC points. Standard points have a constant point angle of 60 degrees and allow the workpiece to sit at least halfway up the point. CNC points allow for better tool clearance with a small straight diameter extension near the point. Thanks to twin, sealed needle-rolling ball-bearings, the 60° center point moves freely with the workpiece being turned to help reduce friction and heat at high speeds. A special compensator ring absorbs thermal expansion and shock to help you achieve precision results. The shell is case hardened, while the spindle is drop-forged and heat-treated for additional strength, rigidity, and tool life to support heavy-duty applications such as turning rolls, shafts, and forgings. These live centers are capable of holding workpiece weights ranging from 600-3000 lbs. In order to determine which live centers from Phase-II are best for the application at hand: determine the taper of the machine, the weight of the workpieces, the “load rating” of the machine tool, and the anticipated cutting force. Create less thermal friction when turning
