Applications

Designed for machining stainless steel and heat-resistant superalloys, the YG1 85573TH finishing end mill features a 1/4″ diameter, 3/8″ length of cut, and 5-flute Hardslick solid carbide construction. Its 45° helix angle and 5-flute design improve chip evacuation and surface finish, especially in finishing operations with tight tolerances. The stub length offers excellent rigidity, reducing deflection at high speeds. The Hardslick coating combined with this geometry delivers wear resistance and thermal stability specifically optimized for stainless steel and HRSA materials. Its center-cutting capability allows plunge cutting, increasing versatility in complex milling. The lack of a corner radius means edge chipping is controlled through coating and flute design rather than radius protection. This end mill should not be used on steel (ISO P) or non-ferrous (ISO N) materials, as the Hardslick coating is not a good match and will deteriorate rapidly. It is not recommended for low carbon steel finishing, where different flute counts and coatings provide better results.
