The YG1 07573TN solid carbide finishing end mill, featuring a 1/4″ diameter and 3/4″ length of cut, provides a balanced combination of rigidity and reach with its 3.0x length-to-diameter ratio. This size is ideal for precision milling where moderate depth and control are necessary. The 30° helix angle combined with a 4-flute design and TiN coating promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining cutting edge strength for milling in free-machining steel and similar materials.
This tool’s geometry and coating align with recommended combinations for general milling of easy-machining steels, delivering consistent performance in slotting and contouring operations. The lack of a corner radius focuses cutting forces on sharp edges, assisting in clean finishing cuts but requiring careful handling to prevent edge chipping during interrupted cuts.
Use on heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA ISO S) is not advised, as the TiN coating is not ideal and would cause rapid wear. Selecting a coating compatible tool is necessary for such materials.
