Engineered for precision and smooth surface finishes, the YG1 86558TH 1/8″ diameter, 1/2″ length of cut, 5 flute solid carbide finishing end mill excels when rigidity is required. Its 45° helix angle paired with a high flute count facilitates efficient chip evacuation and vibration reduction, supporting fine finishing passes in stainless steel and heat-resistant superalloys. The tools geometry and specialized coating enhance performance where heat and wear resistance are critical. Tailored for stainless steel and HRSA, the Hardslick coating offers outstanding wear resistance and minimizes built-up edge formation. The 5-flute design strikes a balance between chip clearance and increased cutting edges, improving finish quality without compromising tool life. Lacking a corner radius, it focuses on straight edge cutting, which suits detailed contouring and slotting. This tool should not be used on steel (ISO P) or non-ferrous materials as the Hardslick coating is not a good match and will degrade rapidly. It is also not appropriate for low carbon steel or aluminum, where other coatings and geometries are recommended for optimal results.
